The plan had always been to breed Lola to Bubba next year after we had taken PennHip measurements on Lola and if her hip scores were good. While Bubba's scores aren't the best (partially due to prior injury), he has qualities that outweigh just hip scores. He is so gentle with our lambs, yet has no problem taking on the rams. Lola has a work ethic that makes her a joy to have on the farm. She is tenacious and willing to take on a lot- more than some dogs twice her size.
However, we found out this December that Lola is apparently an induced ovulator. The stimulus of Honey and Sparky's breeding apparently was enough to push her over the edge. She had no visible signs of heat - 3 months after her last cycle- but Bubba sure noticed! So Lola's hips will be evaluated this summer.
The pups are shaded sables or tri-colors. Lola is being a great relaxed first time mom.
